- Nurse Practitioner - Oncology, Porter Ranch
Description
The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). In collaborative practice with the Medical Director, attending physicians and fellows, the NP will be responsible for providing independent clinical assessment and patient care management services for Hematology/Oncology clinic patients. The Oncology NP is a master's prepared oncology advanced practice nurse employed by UCLA Hematology/Oncology community clinics to assist in direct patient care. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for communication and feedback with patients, families and referring physicians and will serve as a clinical care extender of the attending Oncologists. Incumbent must be self-directed and function with minimal direct supervision.
Salary range:
NP2 (more than 6+ months NP exp) :$93.81-$133.97/hourly
NP1 (less than 6 months NP exp): $84.62/hourly
- BLS Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Graduation from accredited School of Nursing with MSN/DNP with a NP Specialty required.
- Current, valid CA Nurse Practitioner License and CA RN License-required
- National Board Certification in NP specialty-required
- State of CA NP Furnishing with Schedule II, Additional: NPI #, DEA #, Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment in CURES-required
- Ability to independently prioritize work with minimal direct supervision-required
- Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals in many complex settings-required
- Skills and abilities to perform history and physical examinations of oncology patients-required
- Skills and abilities to perform accurate assessment and evaluation of oncology patients-required
- Skills and abilities to develop and implement appropriate treatment plans under established protocols and physician supervision-required
- Ability to triage patients accurately after evaluating their vital signs, symptoms, findings, etc-required
- Ability to use electronic medical record (EHR)/EPIC/CareConnect to obtain pertinent patient information-required
- Ability to intervene to deal with patient problems when physicians are not immediately available-required
- Skill in communicating and translating medical information to patients and their families, including giving patients and families anunderstanding of their medical condition and what they might expect in the future-required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality-required
- Ability to interact effectively and communicate accurately with patients, colleagues and referring physicians-required
- Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload and frequent interruption-required
- Reliable transportation to travel to various clinic locations as assigned by Director-required
- Will consider a new grad NP with the relevant Oncology experience: NP1 : $84.62/hourly
